Have you ever finished shooting a roll of 120mm film in a Diana F+ Camera only to find the roll very loose (light leaks, anyone?) …I’m all for some light leaks now and then- part of the fun with the Diana- but a loose roll that was NOT intentional can be a real problem! Here is a super quick video blog on how to load 120mm film in a Diana F+ camera and KEEP the film spool tight! This video demonstrates a modification to the film tabs that has proven very successful in over 100+ rolls of 120mm film pushed through my own Dianas!
Please note the video is high quality so it may take a few seconds to load.
Thanks for the tip. I just loaded a new roll yesterday and was noticing that problem. Now I will know how to remedy it.
Thanks. I normally flip the diana upside down to avoid the flimsy strip but I will try this from now on.
if I bought the 35mm film from urban outfitters what is the right way to load it into the Diana F+ camera?
Kimberly- I assume you mean the 35mm back for the Diana F+…if so it just attaches and loads like standard 35mm film and it should come with pretty good instructions as mine did. If you mean to load 35mm film in the Diana F+ which is a 120mm film camera here is a link on how to do it without buying the back….

Its not 120mm film its just 120, you should know that!
A 20 year habit is hard to break… Yes you are correct it is 120 film and not 120mm film…keep me honest!

Hi, this is exactly the information I need, however the computer im using has no audio!
Sigh.
Is there a text version explaining this process?
I cant be sure just guessing, nor can i be bothered learning how to lip read.
=<
Sorry all audio’s are with no text… you can always download the audio to an ipod as it is an mp3… hope this helps.

Thanks for this helpful tip. I just found it after ripping the leader several times on my first Diana roll. Glad I know how to fix it now.
Dan
wow! thanks for the great tip!
im pretty sure i ruined my first roll because i really had no idea what i was doing.
now i dont think my next roll will be so difficult to load.
thank again!
Fantastic! Such a simple method, now i know they won’t snap off i’ll give it a try. I’m pretty shock Lomo don’t do this as standard.
Thanks, great video.
Just don’t bend them straight up to a 90 degree!… you will feel the amount that is right… I agree that it is amazing that they did not fix this or post this fix on the sale sheet for the camera.

sugar, i did the trick shown and was mildly excited but when i was puttin the plastic yoke back in a bit broke off and it wouldn’t stay. bluetack fixed it so im hopin it’ll stay.
Gentle is the key… the glue should hold or ask for a replacement from LOMO as this piece of plastic fatigues over time anyways.
Hi, I just got my Diana F+ a few months ago and am still a little shaky with loading the film! I think this will help tremendously. I noticed that you have a few extras of the tabs (the ones that you angled to create “tension”). Is there anywhere you can purchase them? My friends with the Diana F+ have found this the easiest to break and/or lose, and we’re wondering if there is an easier solution than buying an entirely new camera.
Again, thanks for the video! I never would have thought of that.
I would contact lomo and see if they will sell these as replacement parts… I have never broken one yet or lost one… let us know what LOMO says.

Hey, I actually emailed their customer service (questions@lomography.com), told them my story and asked what I could do to fix it and within a couple of hours they responded saying they would replace the piece for free! One more reason to love Lomos!
Thanks guys,
Is
I’ve had a problem with my film flopping around, but this solved it. Thanks for the tip!
hi,
the “two little tabs that hold your film in place” mentioned in the video are broken in my camera and i need a replacement. could you help me on where i can find any? thanks!!!
Contact LOMO in NYC as they will send you a replacement.
Good day. Very first I wish to say that I actually like your blog, just observed it last week but I have been following it increasingly since then.
I look to consent with most of your respective views and beliefs and this post is no different. entirely
Thank you for any wonderful webpage and I hope you keep up the excellent function. If you do I will keep on to look over it.
Have a very excellent day.
