Have you considered starting a Figital Revolution forum? I only tend to frequent one online photo forum, rangefinderforum, and while it is definitely the best online photography forum I have found, it does have its one-sided elements. It would be nice to have a forum that leaned more toward the discussion of technique, theory, and history instead of all gear, all the time.
I did start a Figital Revolution group on Flickr for just that purpose… post images and let users start the topics of discussion… here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/groups/figitalrevolution/
I find really helpful forums on photo.net, but often, as elsewhere, as I’m reading a discussion, I’m also wondering how long it will take before a disagreement breaks out, and one all too often does happen.
