Here is the direction my current love fest with the iPhone is going…
All blurring is due to long exposure in the iPhone… in this case 16 seconds. The low resolution adds to the image feel. The artwork was then converted to black and white and had minor adjustments for overall contrast but not much. The image tone and grain were also added in Photoshop… the grain helps to “blend” the tonal range of the image. I chose to print the image on Japanese Shikishi (300 gsm) which is a beautiful uncoated hand-made paper.
I like it alot!

Stephen, I know that it is artsy, but I prefer to see the leaves.
It’s just my opinion. The opinion and $ 5.00 will by you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
Keep up the good work. ———— Leland
Me too- but good luck finding leaves in VT this time of year!
Stephen, WOW. It must look stunning in person if it looks this good as a web JPEG.
The print quality is really nice… I have two more to print on Monday.
I like it a lot as well, and I have a question, if I may. Since I know of no way to alter the iPhone’s auto-exposure, how did you get it to open the shutter for 16 seconds? Of course, this might be night, but it looks like late afternoon.
The app which I will review next week takes images for the full time, screen shots, and builds them on top of eachother… It is very cool. I have been in contact with the developer and he has made some tweaks that will make the app even better… More soon.
Like Chris and likely many others, I’d love to know what this app is called. I didn’t see your review last week. Can we expect to find out more this week?
Yes very soon… I now going to beta test a new version starting tonight that has a Lot of tweaks I have suggested so my review will be out as soon as possible. There are more examples on my personal web site: http://www.stephenschaub.com
Hi Stephen, I like your final print rendition of the image you showed me on your phone. I’m headed to the AT+T store in Rut-Vegas this afternoon to take advantage of the NO TAX holiday. Gotta have an iphone. I’ll shoot some Ektar tomorrow.
It is very addicting.
Wow, that crazy! It looks like a charcoal. Very nice work.
OK. You’ve kept us in suspense for a while now. Long enough??? How about at least the name of the App.
I will have something by Friday… I have been working with the app developer to improve it and it now really rocks… stay tuned.
Thanks for the response. I can wait (you’re not the speaker of the house are you?)
Alright Stephen… Enough is enough! I’ve been searching for daze trying to find this iPhone long exposure app!
I will post part 1 today…
